My TV or Freeview box is messed up.

I have a Samsung TV with external Bush Freeview box. I turned on the Tv and the picture comes up but no sound any channel. neither box or tv on mute and volume is up. Connected via scart lead.

Things I have tried.
Turned on/off the both tv and box turning them on in all different orders.
Plugged in in my Ipod to tv audio socket no sound.
Plugged in headphones to tv no sound through headphones.
Plugged ipod into Audio socket of freeview box. Tv plays the music but sounds really poor.

I have on many occations before had to turn it off then on to get sound out of it , but then also had to turn up the volume of the TV then turn down again when the volume kicks in. Both of which I have tried today no joy either.

Any ideas.

Fiddle with the scart connectors - they can sometimes play up and not all pins connect.

Have you checked that digital output on the freeview box is turned off? Some mute the SCART audio output when the digital audio out is enabled.

The box is not that advanced, no audio settings in the menu or audio buttons on the remote other than volume up down and mute

well the tv plays my ipod when pluging in the coaxil cable to the Freeview box,so the scart audio is connected, if a little sucky in sound. but then the cable is 20 meters long and little ipods are not exacly power houses

Has your area just been (or is it in the process of being) switched to Digital?

The "new" digital is slightly different and some old Freeview boxes won't work with it. A coupe of ours won't be able to.

This may be incidental to your current problem but if you're going to be needing a new one anyway, it might be an idea to replace yours now.

That was one of my thoughts, it worked yesterday fine so unless the update last night killed it, But the version is still 3.2

If it is the Freeview box naffed why doesn't the TV play your ipod when you plugged it in (wrong i/p selected that time maybe).

I found my monitor cable and the 3.5 to 3.5 phone jack and plugged it into the TV , plays the music fine no distortions.

So its a dead freeview box then

Cause the TV is a little too smart and wants a signal from the correct video source as well.
