Hi
Hope you can help with this problem- it just seems a bit weird. I am on bt broadband , with a wireless netgear router and have been for a number of years. Not altered my settings or anything recantily but suddenly this box keeps appearing for no reason. It says " dial up connection " and seems to be asking for access. I checked my internet connections and only one exitst for the broadband.I know some people have both connecctions on their computer but I dont and there is no reason that I know for this box to appear. To be honest it doesnt look quite right and I was wondering if it could be some malware/ spyware ? I have avast ,ccleaner and ad ware on my computer. ANY help would be greatly appreciated .

This is a dialler which has been installed through spy/malware when you have visited a site. It is quite common and will cause you no direct problem as it cannot dial you into a premium site whilst on broadband. That is the good news..
Run Ad-Aware SE or something similar to try and get rid of the unwanted spyware and also go into: Start> Connect To> Show all connections and you will see it there under Dial Up Connections. Right Click and remove it.0 -
Hi
Thanks I tried the start>dial up connections but there was nothing there. I have ran adware again to see if that shifts it.Was just thinking others might have had the same problem- if it comes back I will get a screenshot of it- as it should say Bt at the top but says " isp connection ".0 -
OK well go to All Programs and see if there is anything new or unrecognised there. If so there might be an uninstall option. Failing that go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and look to see if there is something there it could be. The name of the self installing program could well be different to the name of the dialler.
If all that fails Google for the name of the dialler if you can see it. Sometimes you can follow a link where others have had similar problems and, hopefully, a solution.0 -

Important note
Make sure your old dialup modem is not still connected if you are on broadband - otherwise these dialler malwares will still be able to use your phone line and connect you to premium rate numbers.0 -
