Ive tried various NRT methods to quit. Never lasted more than a week. Stopped smoking for 3 months after reading Allen Carrs book. Thoroughly recommended. Ive actually brought it into work today to start reading again and then i plan to stop next week at some point.
Note: do not read after you have stopped cos you crave fags during the reading. Read the book then decide if you are ready to stop. One more thing, the book costs less out of Asda than a packet of fags. Im sure its either 2.69 or 3.69. :)

I have just stopped smoking was about to go to the shop and get some. twenty would not be enough!!!

I can't afford them financially or healthwise so today's the day, wish me luck please.

I know there are more stop smoking threads so am off to search for them and find other's inspiration.
    Good luck!!!

I gave up smoking on 11th February, cold turkey. I found that changing my habits helped me.

    All the best!

    oops !
give Allen Carr's book a go, I was very sceptic, how can a book help ? But honestly it makes sense of why you smoke and you realise why you can stop.

Thanks to all of you:beer: but about 2 hours in I've failed miserably and am smoking a rollie!!!!!!!!!!:p but I am determined to give it a real good try and if I fail a little along the way I'll start over again.

I remember when i gave it up for four years at one point in the beginning it was stop start affair but I managed it and didn't smoke for four years.

I used the Allen Carr book and quit a year and half ago. Never touched a fag since!!!

Smoked for 10 years before that - turned 30 the year i quit - never looked back!!

I think the book is great. You do have to have willpower though - even though in the book it says you don't need any!!!

Good luck to you all who want to quit - it is like being set free.

Hey good luck with stopping. Just remember giving into temptation isn't a failure, it's just a blip in your willpower that you can recover from. When you gave up before was there anything in particular you did that helped, ie diversion tactics, NRT, rewarding yourself each day you didn't have one? It might help you this time if you can remember what helped last time.
