IP Blacklisted?

Hi,

I have been using (successfully) a free download of Screen recorder, and recently decided it was worth my paying $9.99 to upgrade to the paid version. Since receiving my paid licence key, the app hasn't recorded sound!

So I have been trying to send a support email to the software company, but whenever I send (I have tried sending from separate home PCs and email accounts including initially Hotmail) I immediately get the following message:
The original message was received at Thu, 3 Sep 2009 07:13:14 -0500
from bay0-omc1-s40.bay0.hotmail.com [65.54.246.112]

The following addresses had permanent fatal errors
<support@nbxsoft.com>
(reason: 598 ip address in blacklist for more details Please see .....

This is new one for me and I initially assumed it was because I had sent the email from Hotmail as I know some companies stop Hotmail emails from coming through, but sending from another email address has had zero success also! Does this mean that my personal PC(s) IP addresses have been blacklisted, or that my ISP IP has been blacklisted? I am puzzled what I can do about it. I have up to date anti-virus (Avast) and firewall software on both router and PCs.I have gone onto the web site which had the link (263.net) but it is a very Japanese site and switching to English mode doesn't provide me with a link to get delisted in any way?Any ideas on what could be the cause and what I can do about it?Thanks all

The only other thing to try is a different internet connection - that will have a different IP address.

I've seen this happen before - sometimes to a whole range of IP addresses for an ISP - and it seems to be caused by anti-spamming blacklists being over-zealous.

The original cause is probably that several IP addresses in that range are seen to be sending large quantities of spam (possibly botnet-owned PCs), and so the range automatically gets added to a blacklist.

I'd try contacting my ISP as they should know more about the procedures for getting addresses out of blacklists. However, one other thing to try would be to send an email using a proxy via webmail - that should appear to be from a completely different IP address.

Of course an alternative explanation is that your PC is owned as part of a spamming botnet, but hopefully you'd have noticed that...
  • Thanks for this. I have checked with spamhaus and according to them the IP is OK. I have emailed my ISP support to see what they say.

    Thanks

  • Just an update:

Have looked up the Ip address listed on the email (as I had assumed it was my ISP IP Address!) on robtex.com and discovered it is actually nbxsoft.com's IP address that has been blacklisted by Hotmail!

I have sent another message to their support email via nildram's webmail and will see if I get a response.

    Thanks all for your help.
