Crackling/interference on Cordless phones

Are you 100% happy with your BT line I know from experience they are not happy to come out and check line faults etc.
One thing worth trying is plugging your phone straight into the test socket which is on the inside of your master socket that should tell you if any line fault is inside or outside your house.
Once you are happy with the line inside and out then you can play around with phones, filters etc.0 -
Do you have an overhead line to the house, or an underground line?0

Hi - thanks for all the feedback. The line is an overground one and the BT engineer did actually come out, although he didn't come into the house (I didn't want to get landed with £125 call out charge!). He said the line is a new version and BT did actually do all the checks on their side.
As the line was so much quieter with the corded phone, I think it has to be the base station that is picking up interference from somewhere.
I have moved the base station to the other side of the room and it does seem to be better, so fingers crossed.
Many thanks to everyone for their help and input.0
