Surely VAT has even less link to earnings? Or, indeed, most other duties, or things like airport tax... I'm not saying they should be abolished by any means, and they won't ever abolish indirect taxation, but there's taxes that are less fair than CT

I guess with VAT we can exercise some choice in how much we pay through our own spending habits. Lower income families will spend less on so-called luxury items and spend a higher proportion on non-Vat items such as food and heating - although the latter now attracts VAT at 5%. Of course, it's a difficult argument.

Point is they [the government] are robbing everyone blind and using the money mostly for war. It's getting worse. In the old days people never had such high taxes. That's one reason we see pensioners going to prison refusing to pay up these days.

I can't believe we people take the abuse. The government have abused the power we entrusted to them and it is time we got rid of them!

    The problems are simple.
Everybody leaves it to somebody else to get elected and run the council.
If you are a devious little **** then you can walk in to a £400 a week part time job just by putting your name on a list as nobody else can be bothered to do it.
If the people want power, then I suggest they get off their backsides and stand for election or shut up and put up with those that do.

    Bill Of Exchange
An old-fashioned term relating to a non-interest-bearing order in writing by one person to another to pay a specified sum to a specified person or bearer on a particular date. Bills of exchange are similar to cheques and promissory notes. They can be drawn by individuals or banks and are generally transferable by endorsements. The difference between a promissory note and a bill of exchange is that this product is transferable. The person making the order or drawing the bill is known as the drawer. The person to whom the bill is addressed is the drawee (for example a bank). The person to whom the bill is payable is the payee. Also known as commercial bills, trade bills and eligible bills.

So OP , back to the drawing board maybe?
