McKneff are you suggesting that what was said and done after the meeting shouldn't matter?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Ok thanks, all quite confusing, in my opinion it doesn't appear to have been conducted proffessionally or fairly, but I don't have much knowledge about these things. I would have thought that he should have been allowed to state his case at least!!!!0
-
forgot to say....also..... The witness has already expressed concern about attending an appeal if needed as I think the whole episode was quite traumatic and not expected.0
-
I think that he should do 3 things:
- Immediately ask for a copy of the tape, and keep a copy of the request.
- Write up a very short account of what happened, stating that there was a tape made, no more than 2 sentences to cover the taped part of the meeting and then outlining what happened after the tape was turned off, in very little more detail than you have given and in as calm an dispassionate terms as you can manage.
- Arrange a quick exchange of letters with his witness, to confirm the truth of what happened after the tape was turned off

Thanks for that DVardysShadow
There were actually 2 witnesses to the incident, my OH colluegue and the lady taking the minutes who I think was just as shocked, the lady who wrote the minutes I think wants to add something about what happened after as it really upset her.
Gosh, what a mess this all is!!!! My OH is in bed feeling awful!!!, He says, even if it were to come to an appeal he doesn't know whether he wants to face them again, he said they really didn't want to listen to him and he wasn't able to put across the mitigationg circumstances surrounding the error as they kept interupting him, at one stage he asked if he was able to finish and their reply was that he had ten minutes at the beginning to say his part!!!
I have never been through something like this so I don't know whether or not this is common practise?0 -
no it isnt, its far from professional, The bosses shoul know better.
They are leaving themselves wide open to litigation.
Just try to relax and give your hubby some support, yes i know you need it too
but youre getting some of it on here.
Show him this thread anyway, it might make him feel a little better.
Tell him to write everything down as soon as he can so its on paper to remind him.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I suppose all we need to do is wait to see what the outcome is and go from there then?!!!!
what a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Bless him, he must be terribly upset.
He'll be able to think more clearly and calmly in the morning.
I guess a stiff whiskey is on the cards to help get off to sleep, god knows what he will need to help him sleep :rotfl:
Try not to get too stressed and take each day as it comes.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I had a disciplinary but that was for being off sick for a month, I wasnt happy how the meeting was conducted, it was unprofessional, intimadating, unfair and very abrupt.
I put in a grievance and the manager had to have a meeting with senior manager and myself, who apoligised for the way they conducted that disciplinary.
Everyone has the right to have the opportunity to set there case and it doesnt seem to appear that your hubby has had that right.0
