Win98 firewall & anti virus - any good free ones?

On XP I use Zone Alarm & Avast AV, but a friend of mine has an older machine running Win98 and wants a similar level of protection for his machine (on a dial up connection).
Do these packages run on Win98, and if not, is there something similar to both that can be downloaded from the web?

Yes.
The ZoneAlarm firewall supports as far back as 98se and Avast supports as far back as Windows 95.0
