Wow get her and her moral high horse0

Well honestly, some times people get so upset at the slightest idea that you can screw a DCA over. I'm sure there's some kind of list of suspected DCA sympathisers on this forum :-\
I bet all these moral high grounds would crumble if you were in the position of tammy79, but nobody stops and thinks what she must be feeling. She is already practically a refugee of the financial maffia, sitting it out 2 more years before facing it might be the best way to deal with it.
But no, that's illegal, we're all goodie 2 shoes here, DCA's are our friends, we can't screw them over. Well la-de-da. It's sickening. It's also funny to note how people suddenly change their opinions when it's THEM being hassled by the DCA and reduced to tears down a phone.0 -
An interesting issue here, which certainly will test peoples morale opinion.
I think in the first instance you clearly ran away from your problems and that is never a good thing.
Also another thing that will annoy people is that just about everyone else here is trying to pay back off debts rather than avoiding them, and that will stir animosity
Also i cant imagine life is good, constantly being in fear of a knock on the door, i wouldnt be surprised if leaving the country while owing money would be considered illegal
However....
The fact that this will be a multinational company who rip us all off make me a little unsympathetic when one person slips the net.
I advocate any way of fighting the power and this is one way of doing it (in a very broad sense of the trerm, it em where it hurts, in there pockets.
However i do prefer a more legal (and pacifist way) of doing this, such as not buying overpriced goods or whatever.
In all honesty if you think you can get away with it then great, i will not judge you on that one, other people will because they are doing this the hardway (while you have flouted the system), as long as you learn from your mistake and dont rack up debt again i think ill consider you "one of the lucky ones"0 -

I eventually decided to go abroad to live with a friend without telling anyone that i was going (including friends and creditors).
To be honest it sounded like you were having a terrible time, its a pity this forum wasnt around then as we may have been able to help you through it0 -
In my own personal opinion I do feel that if you've run the debt/s up then you should be responsible for paying them back. I think the general feeling of most people on here, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that we are trying our best to pay off our debts, struggling etc and so when someone comes on here and is trying to evade their resonsibility it is bound to stir up a few hard feelings. I feel a bit like that myself, I have got myself a second job, have cut everything down as much as I can to clear it all, I'm not proud that I got myself into debt but I am now trying to sort it out.
Hope I haven't offended anyone, just wanted to have my opinion.
And please remember that we are to be nice to each other, all this back biting and one-up-man-ship isn't nice really is it.Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Me neither!! Granted - it does sound as though the OP was having a hard time of it, but if she had said that and posted today and said "Right, I had a rough time 4 years ago and now want to find out who I owe money too and settle my debt" - perhaps we could understand a bit more, but no, they are another poster that has come here wanting to ask US for advice on how they can get out of paying back the money they owe. I am not here to advise people on how they can do that, and dont want to. I want to help and advise people that want to be debt free & will listen to the advice given.
I am sure Martin didnt set up this website either so that people can get out of paying what they owe - as simple as that!!
I am pleased that I am debt free - I wouldnt want to be living the half life that the OP obviously is, no way!! :mad:0 -

I too am going through a process of starving myself of all the things i enjoyed in life to pay off all my debt, its not fun, but to be honest its made me a much stronger person and while ive always had decent values, this has given my life purpose, it is a pity the op has missed out on this.
Do i feel anger or bitterness towards the OP, not at all, why should I, someone has been given a second chance in life and i hope she takes it and does well with it.
At the end of the day people are different, 7K of debt may not sound like much to some people, but to others it seems like they will never get out of it.
And i will say this, while for one minute dont advocate running away from any problem in life, there are times when taking the morale highground, doesnt pay.
As said in other posts we are here to support people, maybe not to help them get away with dodging paying money back as that is not the DFW way.0 -

What about going down the legitimate route of bankcrupcy or an IVA then? Perhaps we would have more sympathy for the OP if they werent trying to dodge the situation completely.....
What is all this talk of morale high ground - flippin nora!! We are entitled to our opinions as much as the people on the morale low ground are!0
