setting up tom tom 910

just bought this new tom tom ...

struggling to understand how to update it ..... uncle moved into a newly built flat in hatfield 10 months ago and the address doesn't exist on this brand new model tom tom ?? !!

i've linked it up to pc and put in the cd but don't seem to be able to get it to do anything .

the actual instructions are very brief and there's not actually a paragraph called " how to update maps" .

it gets to a screen split in 3 including "on computer" and " on tomtom" but it keeps saying there's nothing on my computer but no clues on what/how to do anything !

help ! please

I've got a TomTom Go 700 (soon to be replaced by a 910) which is very similar in operation.

It should be delivered with maps for door-to-door maps navigation throughout Europe pre-installed on the hard disk and shouldn't need you to install anything from the CD.

The maps always lag behind the real world by a substantial margin with changes only appearing when a survey is carried out. The fact that the Go 910 is new doesn't mean the maps are as well.

You could select 'Navigate to' and either enter the closest address or postcode you know of to your uncle's flat and store that as a favourite. Try visiting a mapping web site such as Multimap and find the closest point to the address you're looking for and use that information to create a favourite. As a last resort, Multimap also quote the logtitude and latitude of any point on their maps which can be used in the same way.

I hope I'm not making this sound too complicated - it really is a breeze to sort this kind of problem out once you've been using the TomTom for a while.

Please post a reply or PM me if you need any more help.
