Back up on Vista

Hello, please be gentle, I am a novice with all this kind of stuff. I have a Dell computer and it is running Vista basic. I think it sort of backs up everything automatically without me doing much, which is okay I suppose, but it is now telling me that my storage is full, and if I want to 'clean up' then click this icon. I click and then it tells me that by cleaning up I will gain 0%. When I take a look, there are loads of back up copies, so, do I delete them all and just leave the latest back up?

I'm scared to delete anything in case I can't get it back!
:hello:  please play nicely children !
