Kitchen sink size advice. 1.0? 1.5? 1.75?? 2.0??? bowl? help!

Hi folks, Getting a kitchen done pretty soonish and just wanted to know your experiences - pros n cons - as far as kitchen sinks go!

I'm looking to buy stainless steel or possibly granite - what are the pros n cons for these?

The MAJOR thing i want to ask is which bowl size is best? Someone told me that a 1.0 bowl is the same size as (both bowls on) a 1.5 bowl sink?? Seems like a bit of a con getting that 1.5 bowl as far as i can see!??

Baring in mind the family has a lot of big pots n pans being used day in day out - please can anyone help!? Thanks

Franke are the best stainless steel sinks to go for.

    Have a look here :

    http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/search/3706?SearchString=franke

I wanted the biggest bowl i could get so i went for Franke Infinito which has a huge bowl here :

We used to have a sink with the half bowl in the middle which was a waste of space and noticed we were using it as a holder for drying pans etc. (Doh)

I also wanted as big a sink as possible so went for the Franke Infinito 1.75. You get the large bowl, the 3/4 size one and a decent size drainer. I got mine from http://www.wickedsavings.com/Sinks/INX%20621

Delivery was fast. You have to check stainless steel items within a strict time limit. I had a scratch on mine and they replaced without a problem.

I brought mine from wickes its the deepest sink and largest ive seen in the shops, was good value too. Can get the whole pan into the sink and wash without spashes over the edge of the sink.

Make sure your builder seals the edges of what ever sink you buy really well. Check the seal before he leaves, the most anoying thing is having to take it up and do it again in a few months. Also make sure its mould resistent seal that he or she uses (builders can be girls too!)

Also make sure he shows you how the trap fits together and leave space for you to be able to access it proprely, nothing more anoying that having the trap in a posisiton that is hard to get out. Then buy a spare trap. If your one gets block dont mess about cleaning it just swap it out. Id recommend this for everyone actually i keep spare traps, seals, washers, olives etc in the shed as well as a long unblooking rod in case there is a block down the pipe.

    hope that helps.

Thanks for all those replies!! :) much appreciated!

Generally, them 1.5 bowls are a waste (hahahaha... get it?) of money!

Would definately say (if it can be fitted into my new kitchen units??) the 1.75 bowl is the way to go! Will shop around for the best priced franke 1.75 now... :)

I've got a half bowl in the middle. I find it really useful for draining food; in fact more useful than a bigger bowl or 2 bowls.

Mine's made of some material that looks and feels like rock. Never scratches unlike stainless steel and scrubs up like new. In fact hoping to move house soon and really would like to take the kitchen sink with me!
