Automatically/system create index of files?

Hi all

I know this is an unlikely one but I want to create a directory or index of folders and subfolders I have stored in a drive on the network without having to do it manually!

Does anyone know if there is a programme or how I can do this automatically?

Thanks

You can redirect a directory listing to a text file in a command prompt, with no extra software.

Open a command prompt Start > Run > CMD

Change to the top level directory you want, e.g. cd c:\myfolder (followed by return)

And if you need to switch to the C drive (or whatever drive) then type C: followed by return.

    type exactly as shown below:

    dir > files.txt

and it'll create a text file called files.txt in the folder, just of that folder's file listing.

If you want the folder and ALL subfolders use (typing exactly as shown below)

    dir /s > files.txt

    (You can use any filename, e.g. dir/s > myfilelist.txt )

There are many more options to the DIR command, type:

    dir /?

    for more info.

The Program here called Cathy should do the trick if i understand what you wish to do correct.
  • Is there a version that prints out unicode files? Been looking for one for like forever. Does anyone have a solution?
