Dishwasher 'flooded' kitchen.....

I agree that currys wouldn't refund/collect but firstly I don't want negative feedback, secondly it gives me a chance to look at the dishwasher closely for damage etc and maybe plumb it in again at home to check it out. I suppose the problem with secondhand goods is that parts can suddenly go or a bit of 'sludge' be knocked and block up pipes etc. So even though it works when sold during transit/installation it fails. I will comment if he had a plumber install it (I know he didn't) therefore it comes back to him. He says it was leaking out the front of the machine but I really can't see how. The picture I have which I put on ebay shows the seal intact around the sides and top as it should be, there is never a rubber seal along the bottom.0

Is there any way you will be able to tell that the dishwasher you pick up is the one you sold him? Serial numbers etc.?
I know it's probably a bit far fetched, but it could be that they had the same model which failed, ruining their new kitchen. They then saw yours for sale, bought it and then claimed "you ruined their kitchen", hoping that you'll pay for the damage. They then give you their duff model and are left with the free dishwasher that works, and, if you paid for the damage, money to repair the damage to their kitchen (maybe they don't have insurance).
I would have thought that a private sale is 'buyer beware'. The fact that you've offered a full refund is more than generous. As already mentioned, you've no idea what he could have done with the dishwasher once it left your house. Just make sure that if you start getting any feelings things are going to turn nasty, you make a hasty retreat.
The same thought went through my mind too! He bought it at the weekend and didn't collect until last night so would have thought he would want it im place quickly to pull that stunt. However I will definately be comparing closely with the pictures I took to check for any new/old marks!0 -

It could have leaked from the pipes at the back and then run underneath out of the front. So he could be a bit dim and count that as leaking from the front0 -
OP I think a neg will be the least of your worries. Be very wary of how you handle this and what you say. I think you should also take someone with you. Preferably another bloke.
Good luck0 -
Thank you everyone for tips and adive. As mentioned I took my brother with me. Luckily they had calmed down and were very understanding. I gave a refund plus a fiver to cover their petrol money when they collected as a token gesture. They didn't talk about paying for new units so it must have dried up without any problems. Understandably they were stressed at the time but have had time to calm down and reflect.
The seal on the bottom did have some slight damage/perish in the middle. Still not sure if it leaked due to that? Will test it tonight.
Thanks again!0
