in Credit cards
I've just used my debit card to pay off the £300 balance on my egg card.
My 0% period starts in January.
Do I transfer the whole £15K in one go?
Will Egg phone me up?
If so, what do i say, I'm a hopeless liar ???
many thanks

You could make multiple BTs for smaller amounts to your account if you were worried about this. They send you an individual email acknowledging the time and amount of each BT [so to identify different BTs just make them out to slightly different amounts]. SBT on Tues or Wed next week for speediest clearance to you account etc.
You should BT to a bank account rather than a savings account [although in theory they may not be able to tell them apart - that isn't worth the risk IMO] and then move the cash from there. Double/triple check account details before confirming - you don't what it going into someone else's account!
Remember to have your Direct Debit set to 'minimum payment' and not 'statment balance' [people can forget this!]. And do not under anycircumstances spend on the unused balance after the initial SBT or make furhter balance transfers after 31st January.
Otherwise, good luck.......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Wot Milarky said ^Will Egg phone me up?

Never lie. Even if they were to ask you why you want to transfer (which they won't) a vague statement about reorganising your finances will do.0 -
Best to do it in multiple lots of say 3000-4000 each, not sure what their threshold is, which invokes a phone call from them (that is when these awkward questions are likely to come up)
Best of luck!!!It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0 -
If you want to transfer the whole amount in one go to your current account, just do it. You don't need to give them a reason; it's entirely within Egg's T&Cs to do it:2.4 You can ask us at any time:
to pay off an amount you, or your Additional Cardholder, owes to another UK lender and transfer it to the Account, as long as the amount transferred would not make you go over the Individual Limit and is £100 or more and is not used to discharge your or your Additional Cardholder's indebtedness to any part of the Egg plc group of companies;
to transfer (by direct bank transfer) an amount from your Account directly to a specified current account held by you or an Additional Cardholder as long as the amount transferred would not make you go over the Individual Limit and is £100 or more.
Why worry about it?0 -
