I have an alcatel speedtouch modem with 2 lights on the front, lately I have had problems connecting to the internet due to the fact that the right hand LED keeps flashing. I have filters in every phone socket except one which a sky box is the only thing plugged into.
I manage to eventually getthe LEd to stay on by lifting a phone receiver up then putting it down numerous times.
any help appreciated

Hi Amboy.
You need to have a filter on all your phone sockets which have anything attached to them.
I had loads of problems with my Speedtouch 510 which were cured as soon as I put a filter on my bedroom extension socket which was the only one I hadn't bothered to fit one to.
I guess a quick test for you would be to unplug the sky box from the socket without a filter and see if this fixes the problem.0 -
As Seamus says you don't need a filter on every telephone socket but you do need it on every telephone socket that has *anything* connected
As such, you need to filter the Sky box as well.
If a telephone socket has nothing attached to it, it doesnt need a filter

sounds like your ISP might just be having a few probs, so you're probably alright now0

Sunil, Who told you this...Was it an SP helpdesk or are you assuming this to be correct.0 -
i had a similar problem with my last modem, the lights were working but could get no connection, turned out it was the modem that went faulty, just after a thunder storm last week.0

Lets just say I know a lot about ADSL and know its correct
Any equipment connected to the telephone line/circuit needs to be filtered - apart from the ADSL modem/router which needs an unfiltered signal.
However, If you have a telephone socket/extension with no equipment attached it doesn't need a filter.
