Hopefully it will - there should be some docs with the software. The buzzword is incremental backup.

Many thanks, I didnt know if it were normal - sounds like it is. Surely it doesnt go through this performance every time it backs up does it? Does it just back up anything new after the first big upload?

Do the first full backup overnight due to upload speeds.

The next one should just be incremental, i.e. only items that have changed.

Ive just bitten the bullet and signed up to Dell Datasafe online, figuring if its tied into my Dell puter it MAY be more reliable/simple.

You didn't you pay for it, did you?
HOWEVER, it is only 29% complete backing up files and tells me another 6 hours and 39 minutes to finish? Is this normal? Ive only got about 4 or 5 GB of docs and photos?

Yes, that's normal. Uploading is a lot slower than downloading, and you're uploading a lot of data.

This isn't a very encouraging start

    This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to www.delldatasafe.co.uk, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

    What Should I Do?

    If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

    Technical Details

www.delldatasafe.co.uk uses an invalid security certificate.

Hi, I went through my Dell Support Centre on my puter. It gives you 2 gb free not 5 - remembered now, that when I went to take the 2 gb freebie, up came a tariff, including a one chance price of about a fiver for 5 gb, I ignored that, tried to upload all my stuff and was told there was too much :( Went back hoping to get the cheapie 5 gb offer but blow me, it was a one time offer - not shown any more, so I had to go for the 10 gb price.
