I've just been catching up on my electricity deal.
Online account with Scottish Power says:
Is this any good?
Monthly bill, based on my own sums goes up from £37 to £38 with this change.
I can get it down to £35 if I go to Scottish Power NSC Online "Premium account".
Rates on the online engergy are:
Standing charge 19.04p / day
Night: 5.117 p / kWh
Day: 10.77 p/kWh
Then again, I can get down to £33 with Telecom Plus. I see that there's a massive thread on them. Are there any issues with that?
Standing charge 6.71 p/ day
Night: 3.5 p / kWh
Day: 14.72 p/kWh
Online account with Scottish Power says:
So I'm now on Online Energy - Capped Rate.01/09/09
Change of product
From: Fixed Price Energy online
To: Online Energy - Capped Rate

I know there is a lot of reading on here but there is some good stuff relating to SP.
The capped rate that you are now on is the same price as SP standard rates. It will go down with any rate change but not up.
If you stay with that deal then decide you have found something better then you will pay a cancellation fee to move. (around £50 duel fuel)
You have until 30th Sept to opt out which will put you on their standard rates. This has no cancellation fees so you are then free to move to another supplier.
This is what I have done as I have not yet decided on a new supplier/tariff.0 -
Just another thought.
You appear to be on an Economy 7 tariff, as I am.
Do you really use the night rate.
I am seriously thinking of moving to a non E7 tariff. Comparison sites say I can save up to £300.0 -
Another awkward thing about Scottish Power is that they seem to be saying to change from the E7 tariff to the single rate tariff, you need the meter changing - but at a cost to the customer (Craig, the Scots Power Rep tells me this is £50, the cost that levied by the meter changing company and passed on to the customer by Scots Power.)
Both EON & BG agree to simply add the day and night rate units together, the sensible and easy option.
My meter has three screens on display - day, night and single rate (which equals day and night added together) - so could be used for either tariff without even doing arithmetic, but they still imply I would need a meter change. This sounds to me like another money-making exercise as a change of meter would not make any difference to the reading.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -

Have to agree.
If E.ON & BG can do it with an E7 meter why can SP.
I can make a saving of £300 by switching to eon fixonline 3. Trouble is it is a fixed price contact and I'm not sure that that is the best deal to go with when it seem likely that prices will fall.0 -
