Reading a Mac data CD/DVD on a PC - SOLVED

I have (I hope) a .iso image file on a DVD that was written on a Mac. It's not readable under either Windows or Linux, and a bit of searching shows that it's probably been written with an HFS filesystem.

I've tried within Linux by adding "hfs" and "hfsplus" to /etc/modules but it still generates the "invalid mount option" when the disk is loaded.

So... anyone here know of any free conversion utilities that will work under either Linux or Windows?

Know nothing about this but found following which may help

Thanks - if I could see any files that might work, but neither Linux nor Windows can see a valid filesystem, so it seems to be a more fundamental problem.

More Googling has turned up the fact that Isobuster should be able to read an HFS formatted disk but, having installed the free version, it just shows as "blank disk", even though data is visibly there...

The reason why Isobuster couldn't see it is that the PC I was using has a DVD-ROM drive, which apparently cannot read DVD-RW disks.

Anyway, Isobuster can read the disk on another more recent PC, so now I've just got to find out how to extract the data and convert a HFS volume into a bootable .ISO. Of course, you have to register to actually use the Extract function in Isobuster, but I guess I shouldn't complain too much about that...

This came up once before when I suggested Isobuster.

I've never registered, it used to say something like 'you have not registered do you want to carry on using the free version', but I've always assumed I had full use.

I've used it to read iso disks and extract/rescue files from 'unreadable' cds.

    It's certainly a good program.

I guess they must have tightened this up in the more recent version then - if I try to extract the files, a box pops up saying "IsoBuster Professional - For this functionality you need to register" which suggests to me that I would have to pay. However, it may just be because I'm trying to use a fairly specialist feature (reading HFS filesystems).

Whichever, it does look to be a very versatile program.

That did occur to me as well after posting. ;)

As I said, I've only used it on CDs containing MS data.
