Evening everyone!
My manager has a car number plate (on retention) which is quite exclusive, and various reg.companies have valued it for around £30,000 :eek::eek:
He would like to put it on ebay but i'm not sure this is going to work.
I have a few questions:
1. Would you put it as an auction or buy now option?
2. How much would the Insertion Fees and Final Price fees if it was to be sold for a £20k+?
3. What payment method would you suggest being a large amount of money?
Any help would be appreciated since I've never sold on ebay expensive items.
Thank you very much
EmmEdi

I'm afraid I agree with the others. I would not consider making such a large sale on ebay especially with all the potential paypal issues. I'd rather take a lot less, or sell it to a reselling company and get paid in good hard cash.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There are companies that specialise in selling number plates I would have a look at one of these0

No problems with ebay. If you are comfortable with ebay fees, then just list and sell.
You can specify your payment terms clearly. Avoid paypal to save huge charges.
Go for BACS or FP as this is free and assured. Just state this clearly and you are sorted0 -

now how do we avoid paypal?
yours is a recipe for getting the listing pulled0 -
I would not use ebay for this price of item. imagine the nightmare if the buyer decides there is a problem with it.
I have sold on ebay for 10 years. Not offering paypal is not an option now, they 'have powers to make you choose it'. Lol
Try an auction house that holds specialist number plate sales.0 -
I don't mind ebay getting a slice of my sales but when it's a £30k sale? Not a hope in hell!Terms & Conditions Apply0

Use the classified Ad format - it will cost about £13 for 28 days exposure in the main motors category, and all deals are concluded off-ebay.
You get all the benefits of the exposure that ebay brings, for a fraction of the cost, and very little risk.
