Gas&Electricity: How much per kWh?

Our fixed price agreement with Scottish Power has come to an end. I went through the comparison tools on this site and ended up quite confused.
First: Both ENergyhelpline and Moneysupermarket send me to E-on, but the first one tells me we'll save more than 600 pounds while paying more per year than what we are paying now, and the second one, that we are going to save around 400 and spend LESS per year, which makes no sense (same Co, same program, same data).
But the main thing is that I believe the most important factor is HOW MUCH each company charges per kWh, because you are going to pay for what you use anyway, and I have not found that info anywhere.
Am I missing something??:o
Thanks a lot!

  • im looking into switching soon too, so have been using the same sites, and have come to the same conclusion as you - its the tariffs I care about!

on the energyhelpline page, theres a link for More Info just along from the quotes, it tells you in there the tariffs and standing charges etc.

on moneysupermarket, if you click on the actual name of the tariff, under the Tariff/Product it'll show you those details.

Now I'm just trying to decide whether to fix prices or not!

Thanks, will do that... but I thought I had clicked on all possible links and did not see them... as for fix prices... well I click on "all tariffs" and I suppose one should take the cheapest....
Another puzzle: in one of the Scottish Power statements there is a yearly estimate for the year 4-09 to 4-10 and it is the same we have been paying despite the fact that the capped price agreement finished on Aug 31.
On the other hand, capped or fixed prices are more expensive and I believe prices went down last calendar year anyway.... not sure whether we should not have stayed with Atlantic.... Gosh....what a minefield!!!

The important thing to know is how many Kilowatts of Gas and Electricity you use over a 12 month period.
Feed these into a comparison site and you will get a more accurate result.
If you have just come off a fixed deal the site may use the rate that your current supplier has moved you to calculate the savings.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
