Minor (compared to some) Bank Charges Problem

Hi, first time poster here, just wondering if I have a case for complaint when the test case is all over and done with.
Without really knowing the difference between a standing order and direct debit and therefore not knowing I had to cancel my standing order, I paid an extra £360 to my landlord which has left me £300 over my overdraft (I'm a currently unemployed recently graduated student looking for work.) The bank (Halifax) charged me an initial overdraft fee and charge of around £48 which they have since refunded when I went into my branch today. My landlord is also in the process of refunding me that £360
Unfortunately, before I knew any of this I had made a couple of orders with Amazon before the £360 was taken out of my account, and the money was taken out of my account by Amazon after I had paid this money and I was charged in total another £76 pounds which the branch said that they couldn't deal with and that I would have to write to Halifax to see if I could reclaim. Just as a reference the Amazon order was placed on the 26th, £360 taken out on the 28th and the Amazon money was paid on the 30th. Of course with this court case still ongoing, I don't really know whether I can even reclaim that money.
I am of course also unsure about whether I'm going to be charged interest on this charge and whether I can claim that back. I'm aware that this isn't as bad a problem as many on here have had by looking at everything but I still felt some people would be able to give advice. Any help would be great.

You need to start the process of reclaiming. Dare I say this but it is an unfortunate accident and misunderstanding to make. You might want to Halifax to refund it as you have tried as soon as you were aware of the issue to deal with it as speedily as you could have done.
See what they say, ok?0 -
Thanks for the advice! Indeed thats what I will do. I'm just waiting for details of when exactly the charges will be made to my account as Martin's template mentioned I should, hopefully the rest of the letters should come in a couple of days, only the first has arrived so far. I'm also putting in a phone call tomorrow to see if anything can be resolved that way although from what I've read the channels need to be a bit more official. Still, it's worth a try.0
