Is anyone else finding 2010 prices high?

I usually book a year in advance to try & get free child places etc but this year I'm finding prices for 2010 hugely inflated compared to previous years.

We are a family, 2 adults & 2 children 9 & 7 and we always go AI to the Balearics, Turkey, greece etc. In the past we have never paid more than £2000 for our 2 week holiday and always stayed in 4 * places with good reviews. This is outside of the school holidays admittedly.

So...have I just been exceptionally lucky in the past in bagging a bargain or is anyone else finding 2010 prices are higher and if so, why? You'd think in a recession the travel compaines would be lowering their prices to encourage people to still have their 2 weeks in the sun

They just park the planes to maintain or increase prices.

I booked with direct holidays and they have some good prices for 2010 ,
i think you have to phone up for a free child place though rather than book it online .

I agree!! Much more expensive than last year! The holiday we went on in June this year is £750 more this year!! If I remember rightly we booked in Jan for June though. I wonder if the prices will come down at all - or is this it??

I'm just booking our holiday for next year (got back Sunday night) for the same place, same dates. It's £300 cheaper in 2010!! I'm booking with Thomson and this may have an early bird discount, but if so it's not obvious. I book instore but take online print out as they match the price. However booking in store means I get a lower deposit rate than online.

We need to book early as our hotel has 65% revisits every year (this will be our 6th year) and if we don't we could miss out. We met people this year who couldn't get the dates they wanted last October!

Can you say what resort and hotel this is and who is it suitable for e.g. families, couples etc?

    Thanks
    Val :)
