Gatwick South, MSE Stylee...some questions!

Hi all, having only flown once, I'm hoping to pick the brains of some of you more seasoned travellers.

Once airside at LGW south, where's the best place to buy small bottles of water for the flight?

Logistically, we'll need to either get a takeaway for dinner, or eat at the airport. (Ok, to be 100% MSE I'd be making a packed dinner- but I'm downing tools, ok? :p) To that end, I've seen there's a Wetherspoons- ok, it's not Michelin starred, but for the two of us it'd do. What's the food like there, and how does it compare to the high street price wise?

There are bound to be more questions- thanks in advance! :T

Wetherspoons at airports are a lot more expensive than in the normal high street

I am sure there is a Boots the chemist after you have gone through security into the area where the duty free and other shops are.

The water is slightly more expensive than the high street.

You can take any size bottles of liquid if they are bought here.

Travelled from Gatwick South last month, and got a meal deal from Boots [airside] for £3.49, plenty of sandwiches and salads to choose from. The meal deal includes any sandwich or salad, a snack - there are loads to chose from and any drink. I had a triple sandwich, a 1 litre bottle of volvic water, and for the snack I had a large packet of jelly babies as some of the larger packets of sweets are included in the meal deal. Thought it was good value could not believe the large water was included.

  • Thanks for the responses guys :)

We may well go for a meal deal at Boots then- OH does guzzle, so the litre of water involved would be cool. If they have anything left at teatime!

I travelled three weeks ago and had a very nice gluten free full English breakfast for two people with a pot of tea for one and a coffee for the other and extra toast (for the non GF one). A total of £20-79 from the Bridge restaurant. We travel a lot and normally eat at Frankie and Bennies but they have suddenly stopped helping with the GF requirements and started adding lots of things with gluten to their breakfasts.

Otherwise as has been said you can easily get a meal deal from Boots..it is unfortunate that that isn't an option when i travel as they do nothing gf anymore either.
Also every time we have travelled this year WH Smith are offering a free bottle of water when you buy a newspaper , The Independent I think.

You can take empty plastic bottles through security and then fill them airside. Make sure that you find a drinking water tap - you might not want to drink water from any old tap.
