Powergen Forgets To Bill 20,000 Homes

According to this story from the Daily Telegraph , that number of people have not received an electricity bill for up to four years.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/04/29/npowergen29.xml

My son is one of these people. Since he moved into his house in Wisbech 18 months ago he has been trying to get them to send him a bill . When he first moved in he actually set up a direct debit and paid over the money for 12 months. Then it was discovered the arrangement was with the wrong part of Powergen (this was because Powergen had taken over several electricity companies and they were still running them as separate entities.) So he was paid back all the money, but none of the other parts of Powergen will own up to be his supplier of electricity.

He is still putting this money away every month so that if and when he finally receives a bill he will have the money to pay it. What a shambles this company is turning out to be.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I used to work for Amerada in the IT dept - who were taken over by TXU Energy who went bust 6 months later and subsequently were taken over by Powergen.

TXU were basically a re-badged Estern Energy and they were well known in the industry for being a bag of old beaver. TXU were no better and so Powergen inherited a lot of very old problems.

Accounts could get very screwed up very quickly and only the smarter customer care reps could sort it out - but as the customer care was outsourced most of the the call centre staff had no interest in sorting out the too hard cases and hence the current mess.

i currently work for powergen and was briefed about this problem last wednesdaythe reason behind this error is that there were system problems when trying to migrate customers over onto E-on systems from txu,at the moment we are being told that we will not be back billing customers for this time as it was an error on our part,

as with the outsourcing, it was the case and this is why the problem still haunts us, but the company is slowly getting over this and bringing everything back ship shape (so to speak),

we do still have a couple of call center's in india but they mainly get the billing calls.

HINT "if you are a customer of powergen you should have recieved a letter telling you about capped prices!, if you call the number on this letter you will get through to the bolton call center and should get your problem sorted out with one call "especially if you get through to me" you know what they say about northern hospitality"

cant remember the number but i will post it from work tomorow
