Time delay for credit searches to show up?

Some time ago I applied for 4 credit cards, all on the same day. All of the applications were successful, but a couple of months later I was turned down for a card, probably because of too much avtivity at one time on my credit record. Of course, it could also have been because I then had more credit cards..

Does anybody know if there is a delay before credit searches show up on your record? ie: when I applied for the 4 cards on the same day, it it poissible that they could not have seen the other searches on that day? And if there is a delay, how long is it?

Thanks,

Justin

I applied on line for an A&L credit card (MBNA) on the 24th April. A search showed up the same date on my experian credit file.

They show up almost immediately - though not all on the same CRA file which is probably why you were accepted for all. But when the cards appear on your credit file, after about 6 months, they will appear on all and I imagine thats the biggest problem - gaining four cards quickly.

A poster over on the stoozing website reported how, last December, he applied for 5 or 6 cards in the space of an hour - and was accepted for all of them!

The subsequent discussion speculated that maybe the searches were not logged immediately. Instead, it was thought that possibly they were logged but batch processed later - perhaps overnight.

It should be noted though, that not every credit card provider searches your file as soon as you hit the 'submit' button. Some will carry out the search some time later, perhaps after they have run their own scoring on the information you have provided during your application.

I've applied for Egg Money, Sainsburys Bank loan, M&S card and a NatWest card over the past 6 months. I checked my Experian file online straight after and all had shown up literally seconds after they had been done.
