Is the whistling comming from inside the case or from the speakers?I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0

Does it stop if you eject and leave open all your DVD and/or CD drive trays?I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0

Hum, well the only thing left that I can think of is there are the usually up to three fans inside the case, power supply, processor heat sink and maybe one on the graphics card, any of which could/might cause the noise.
The only problem is you most probably will invalidate your guarantee if you try to open the case to have a look!I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0 -
One last try to find out what it is, does it stop if you go into standby?I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0

Only my best guess, its the noise from the hard drive.
But I don't run a Dell dimension 3100, just a box full of odd bits, does anyone out there run a new Dell that can confirm this?I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0 -
