Battery Life on Tomtom One?

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this. But I need to use my Satnav tomorrow, my cigarette lighter has broken so no charger for on route. Have today bought a mains charger which I plan on putting on charge all night and leaving early tomorrow. I will need it on for about 40mins to 1hr max. Is it likely to last this long or should I get a map instead?
Thank you in advance.

Unless the battery is totally shafted it will last at least that long.
Why not give it a trial early on this evening?0 -
Would the battery last the same even if its just switched on?0

More or less - the major consumer of power is the screen.
The problem I notice with mine is that the battery flattens fairly quickly even with it switched off so keep it on charge until you actually leave.0 -
My TT1 battery is rubbish. I think it's a backup to a car charger for short periods rather than a full blown "use it all the time".
A cable can be bought off ebay for about £2, or alternatively a 12v to 5v USB car adaptor from a Poundland type shop plus the supplied computer cable works with mine as a backup
