epson printer problem

my epson printer says therse a paper jam when therse not and when it tells me to press the color button to clear it nothing happens no paper will run through the printer is it knacked thanks in advance

You don't say which model of Epson printer it is, but the usual cause of this, unless it is an obvious paper jam, is that a tiny shred of paper has become lodged in the paper-train somwhere inside the printer.

You will need to take all the covers off the printer and look closely all the way through the track that the paper follows.

I had an HP printer that would do exactly this with only the smallest fleck of paper jammed somewhere in the cogs or rollers.

Sometimes they can be quite difficult to tease out even when you find them because they are so small and so tightly jammed.

thanks david 39 its a epson stylus 3200cx and if i turn it off then back on i can get it to photo copy one thing then the paperjam warning comes back on

Yes tiny piece of paper can get trapped in the sensor. I found sometime just unplug printer and give it a gentle shake
