I was the opposite. I dislikd planning but tried to make a go of it as I only plan on doing it once! I feel quite relieved now I don't have to plan and feel like I have my life back. I loved our wedding day btw.

I have the same worry Rene, you spend hours and hours organising and being the centre of attention and then it all disappears. I guess it must be quite a common feeling. I'm also worried about just what im going to spend my time doing after the wedding? Its getting to be quite an obsession and all my free time is spent organising and planning. I think I need to plan something else to occupy my time with. I told h2b that id have to spend my time obsessing over babies and his reaction was priceless! :rotfl:

We planned very little to be honest! Only spent 8 weeks arranging it all but had a very informal, unfussy day so I can't say that I had a low afterwards.

My friend on the other hand has just got married and spent 3 years planning her big day and felt totally flatlined after she came back from honeymoon.

I think it will depend on how much of your life it takes up beforehand.

What she said, except I'm getting married in December. I'm looking forward to waking up on the day and knowing that there will be no more planning ;)

i feel like that now and i'm not married yet lol.
I love planning but in a way i will be relieved as there will be no more stress.
However i think i will miss the actual day more than the planning even though that is causing me stress as what to do with the families is a nightmare but all worth it! ( our families are large to say the least)
  • Ooooh hadn't thought about this!! Hopefully it won't feel too flat as we were pretty busy before all the planning & we're not taking up too much time with it at the moment (apart from all the time I spend reading this board!) - squeezing it in amongst other things, so hopefully it won't leave too big a gap! Just more time to spend with each other, which is something to look forward to

It's a wonderful feeling. I would also say don't get stressed about the little things because they just don't matter on the day.

Me and Hubbie got married straight out of college.
The friday before we married on the Saturday our bed was delivered by Agros and my hubbie then travelled 100 miles to my home town. The Friday night our door was kicked in and we were ransacked - they took everything! Saturday and the wedding was lovely but I kept having the feeling people were talking about me whispering - everyone knew but me! My hubbie told me just before we went home 2 days later and we had to open the door with two screwdrivers! We were married in August and it took till February before the insurance company settled the claim as it had only been 3 days after we took it out before we were broken into - made us strong though!:T

I have heard many newlyweds say the secret is to plan something to look forward to after the wedding so its not all over and done with immediately.

We are getting married in April but are not having our honeymoon until 2011 mainly because of where we want to go and the cost of it, So we have that to look forward to and also we are planning to take our children to Disneyland Paris for christmas 2010 then spend new years in London so that is another thing to look forward too (and pay for lol).

So hopefully it should minimise my post wedding glumness

Very much like Nat. Very little planning, loved marrying my man, and no downer the next day. Still love looking at the piccys. Maybe afterwards you can have a "wedding re run" evening when you watch the DVD (if you have one) and have a bottle of wine and a take away.
