Do you still need planning permission if the drive is a gravel one? I thought it was if you drive was non-permeable?

They'll probably still need to get permission from the council to put a dropped kerb in between the pavement and road though.
  • I just checked again apparantly i dont need planning permission as its not a highway but the 'highway' dept will come out and do a survey to determine whether the space is suitable. And they will require the wall to come down but the extra half metre i need is on my neighbours land (even though we share the side entrance) if he doesnt agree they wont allow it.

I tried explaining i'm removing the wall to satisfy the 'highway dept' otherwise they will not give me the drop kerb. I explained i'd replace it with a newer nicer wall but he still wont budge grrr!!!

Was just thinking he is supposed to be going away for Christmas i could do the works when he's away then remembered i still need his permission for the side entrane space. ahhh there's not much i can do.

Thanks for ur suggestions you've been fab i've tried them all well except knocking it down with an old banger :rotfl:
