Ebay Help needed

Hi, i have recently started selling on ebay and so far made quite a lot of money.
Problem is i sold 6 items in 2 lots a 4 and a 2 to 1 person. When the auction finished they emailed me immediately and asked for a discount on postage, not a problem. Then took them 3 days to pay me via paypal.
Then they received them and sent me a message saying that 2 of the items had stains on them and they all stunk of cigarettes and they wanted a full refund.
Thing is i know there was no stains on them when i sent them and as i or anyone in my house don't smoke, i don't understand how they could smell of this.
So i sent a message saying that there were no stains on them when they left me and that it is a smoke free home, and if they were to send me some pics we could go from there. Which they then replied to today (4 days later) that she couldn't send me any pics and that they had put them in the post to send back for the refund, but was keeping 1. Trouble is the 1 they are keeping was part of the 4.
Basically what i would like to know is , what should i do in regards of a refund? And what if they do come back to me in a state?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Did you already agree to a refund? It's a bit forward of them to just stick them in the post and expect a refund....Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0

No, i said i wanted to see for myself as i know for sure there was no stains on them and then we would go from there.0

They can't !!!!!foot about sending back part of their purchase, especially not without agreeing it with you first.
Re: the smoky smell - do you use plastic mailling bags? Some of them can impart a certain odour...My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I pakaged that one in a plastic carrier bag (ASDA) to be precise and wrapped with brown paper as this was one of my first listings and wasn't really prepared. The listing with 4 items (the one that they are keeping 1 from) in went for £21 so how would i refund it, divide it by 4?? I really don't want to refund but if i don't what will happen??0

was the four items, that theyve kept one of a set thats now worthless without the 1 theyve kept? Id be tempted if it was to refund them very little!
Another thought, why if they claim only 2 are stained are they returning all but one? sounds like they only wanted the 1 of the four items in the first place.
If i was going to agree to a return i would ask for all 6 items to be returned before i would issue any refund.0 -
I would wait to see what actually turns up with you...they may be calling your bluff. If they have split a lot up, I personally wouldn't refund until I had the whole lot back. They can't pick and choose the terms of sale.0

The 4 items wasn't a set just 4 items of the same brand, i could probably sell them on again but it is really annoying. I do have pics of the items but as it was clothing they were placed sort of overlapped in the photo. What i don't really get, is the 4 items (1 of which they have kept) they said smelt of cigarette smoke nothing actually wrong with them just that the person is allergic to the smell of cigarettes. If they had just asked for a refund of the 2 items they said had stains on them, that wouldn't have been a problem, i probably would have agreed to that.
I'm just worried that i will get bad feedback and as i am a new seller this will put others off.0 -
if they smell of smoke like they state and they are allergic, why keep one!!
Seems a bit dodgy to me! wait and see what you get back from them!0 -

Next time choose the 'no refunds' option.I do. I write on my post, no refund, if it doesn't suit put it back on ebay. E bay say, you will sell more if you offer refunds but I don't think so. You will not get the postage refunded and often that's half or more of the price. I am not deterred by the no-refunds rule. I buy stuff and if it's no good I re-ebay it. BTW want to buy my Korg M2-20 synthesiser? no refund tho! Sold as seen. hehe0
