kitchen appliances don't seem to last

When we had our kitchen done 3 years ago I was assured all appliances were good and would last. "don't worry love....." famous last words.
The dishwasher had to be replaced (a big extravagence granted) there is a puddle in the bottom of the fridge and the freezer only works if it's o a high freeze setting, therefore needs to be defrosted frequently. The washing machine smells really bad. I've tried special cleaner on a hot wash but it still smells.
With hindsight I wish I had done more thorough research:mad:
Don't know why I'm posting.....just fed up I guess!

I reckon some of those problems could be fixed Old Style (I'll leave it to the experts!)
But I imagine the durability of appliances has a lot to do with the maker.... oh, and sheer luck!My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I've tried with washing machine various remedies . It's so frustrating because I'm sure some things could be fixed. Maybe I've been unlucky but anytime I get somebody to fix things it costs a fortune and it's rubbish. Also I can't stand the patronising "love" thing!0

Have you tried the OS cure for all ills - a hot wash with white vinegar?
in the last 2 months the micro part of a micro/combi, my washing machine, kettle and my mobile phone all died on me  very frustrating and expensive!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Are any of these appliances *built in* to the kitchen?
My mum had a new kitchen a couple of years ago and she had a built in washing machine (which is hidden behind a cupboard door). I've noticed that it smells really damp whenever you open it and I suspect that's because you can't *air* it after a wash by leaving the drum door open. (Without also leaving the cupboard open, which you'd just end up tripping over because of where it's placed....)
I always leave my washing machine's door open after a wash to let the drum dry out and it's nearly 10 years old and ( tempting fate!) it's as good as the day I bought it. No smells at all.
I know that doesn't apply to the fridge/freezer but I've always thought that it would be easier to get non-built in appliances serviced/maintained/replaced.
As someone's said - there's lots of advice on here about fixing stuff OS. Hope you can get it all sorted.0 -
washing machine and drier are free standing, the rest built in. I'm thinking of switching off and forgetting about the soggy fridge as I went back to an older style fridge freezer which I got as a freebie off gumtree.
No point using electricity on something which is leaky and too low down to reach things with comfort!
Talk about learn the hard way
