Disney Blu-Ray - what is this?

I went to the cinema with the kids to see a movie and this was advertised: http://www.visit4info.com/advert/BluRay-Definition-with-Samsung-Walt-Disney-Videos/75782

It says you have to 'plug it into your TV just like a normal DVD player' so is it a DVD player? I am confused as to what they are advertising to play the DVD's on, can anyone enlighten me.

It's not an advert for DVDs. It's an advert for Blu-Rays and the Samsung Blu-Ray players to play them on.

Its an old advert when everyone knew what a DVD was but less knew what a Blue-ray was. Its just a Samsung Blu-ray player they are advertising and saying how great Disney will be in Hi definition.

Disney and Samsung have just jointly made an ad to get your kids to nag you into buy the Blu ray player so they can see the same movies they have on video already, just without the graininess

  • LOL, thanks. I thought it was but then I started to doubt it because they said t 'works just like a normal DVD player' when a BLu-ray is just a normal DVD player (but more expensive!!). I guessed it was not for the DVD's though.

My kids would not nag, I think it is for the husbands/boyfriends, my husband did not see this ad - we have the TV already - if he did then he would be out looking for the Blu-Ray DVD player to go with it. Shhhhh, I'll pretend I did not know. Ha ha. Thank you, it has been bugging me.

Blu rays play normal DVDs too as well as other formats like CDs, VCDs (if you have been to Asia you know all about VCDs)
