I have a question hoping someone knows or has been in same situation could help us out with an answer or some hope at least lol.
Me & my partner have been renting a 2 bed massionate flat with estate agents for just over a year with our little girl. We were on a 12 mts contract but that ended last month & we ent payed to renew as we are thinkin of uppin and leaving somehow...so we are on a month to month contract and only have to give a months notice if we want to leave.
Anyway we are quite happy with the estate agents we are with they are great tbh but we nw know we can get a 2 bed house bigger and with a garden for same amount of rent in better location for us as i dont drive and we are a little out the way frm fam.friends but at time was depserate for a home and last year wasnt any houses for that price so had to make do with this...we do have a garden but tiny and plus as its a masionnate we are kinda sharing in away with downstaries and no gate to cut it off frm road plus garden on a slope its crap really so our girl cant play in garden ever. Anyway we can not afford another deposit..we had to burrow money to get in this place and still owe them it back plus hubby in debts so cant get loan and dont wanna coz we have enuff to pay of as it is and council wont help us at all and hubby in good job even tho they dont bring debts into consideration grrr.
I had a trhough which im thinking of bringing up with estate agents but not sure if to or not.
I was thinking about asking them if we could move into another property they have more suitable for us so wont be leaving them just this flat but they keep the deposit from this place and roll it over to the next place and we move in around time our rent is due so they get that staright away and just pay any extra admin fees which is prob about £200 i dunno but we cud handle that rather then £1200..does anyone know if they could do that?
Sorry for goin on lol
xx

Not unless it's the same landlord. If it is, they might be prepared to do this..but don't count on it.0

Remember that you cannot simply give a months notice at any point during your periodic tenancy, it has to be timed to expire with the rental period. See the Shelter website for information on how to end a periodic tenancy and make sure you understand how this should be timed.
You've little chance of having a deposit transferred. The first deposit applies to the current property and any deductions cannot be calculated until you've moved out. The second deposit is due on the next property before you move in. Therefore, it's the norm to pay a new deposit before having the balance of the old one back - this isn't a problem for the landlord or agent to deal with but one for you to resolve.
If you feel you are paying too much for the current property, then negotiate a rent decrease. There's plenty of threads on this forum that provides tips on how to do this.0 -
as a LL - if the same letting agent is finding you another property and if you hand back the current property in excellent nick, and have no rent arrears i might be tempted to ask the LA to ask the LL to wait for the deposit - as long as the tenant agreed in wiriting to hand it all over to the letting agent when it came time to leave.0
