What is the going rate for a carpenter?
I am located in Hampshire.
I am looking for a carpenter for help me finish some bits in my kitchen that I would like doing properly (mitre joints on plinths, cornices, etc).
I guess I am looking for 1/2 day labour?

I would guess you would be charged a day rate even if it's only half a day's work. Budget around £1500

In London the going rate seems to be £180 allthough they will do 1/2 days0

I'm on the border of London & Kent & last year paid a carpenter on average £250 day to do various jobs in the house for me over the course of a week.
He did quote the jobs individually, breaking it down into labour & costs of materials, which he gave me the receipts for, so no mark ups there. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
£250.00 per day? Think i'll move to Kent.I charge £100.00 to £120.00 per day depending on the job but then i live in the poor north.0

In Coventry you will be lucky to get a carpenter for £150/day. I presume Hampshire will be slightly higher.0
