Paypal advised refund, what about ebay fees?

Sold a mobile phone yesterday BIN. Buyer paid immediately via paypal, but 2 hours later I received an email from paypal suggesting suspiciousd account activity and advised me not to post the item.

Logged into paypal to refund the payment and sent a message to the buyer informing them that the payment has been refunded and the item will not be posted.

However, I've still been charged £26 in ebay fees. Do I need to request a mutual cancellation? If so what if the buyer refuses? I still don't know for sure if it's a genuine buyer or a hacked account.

Under those circumstances do not file a mutual agreement, you'll have to wait 7 days and file a non paying bidder report unless the buyer becomes a 'not a registered user' in the mean time and you can reclaim as soon as that happens.

  • Contact eBay and forward the email you have received from PayPal. They should return the fees you have paid without you having to get the buyer involved.
