Cheap/free street parking near Durham train station?

Hi all,
Does anyone know of anywhere where I can legally park for nowt/cheap on the street in Durham near the railway station? Trying to avoid NXEC's £10 tax to use the station car park - don't mind walking up to half a mile.
Will be there from about 6.30am till midnight, a few days a week (not weekends).
