Thanks princessamy86 but the EA is using the guise that it is the vendors request not theirs.

I have phoned the solicitors that are dealing with the agent direct (Its a bereaved estate) not to bypass the agent but to get assurance that it is the vendors request that we have to use the EA as a broker not and not Abbey National. However they are a big firm and may take them a while to get the info to the right person.
  • I would just say there is my offer, take it or leave it. Then sit tight, don't call them, I can almost guarantee that they will call you and decide to accept. It's nothing to do with them who you get your mortgage through, as long as you can pay for the property then it should be fine.
Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.

Well that is exactly what I have done! So just a case of sit tight now. I also pointed out that since they have told us that 4 properties have come on the market on the same road with and asking price of £15 less. I actually saw on yesterday and other than the garden size it looks a bargain. Its also brick too not concrete.
  • Is it on with the same agent? Go and see it if it is, might put the wind up them a bit.

The other one is made concrete? I would strongly consider going for the cheaper brick one as house insurance etc for NSC can be an issue I think?

Oh and tell the agent where to go while you are at it - it is most likely them being stupid about the mortgage.
Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger

I wonder if the vendors even know what sort of game they are playing! As it stands I think the deal is off due to us not taking their mortgage.
Well, write to the vendor, copy to the agent and say that you will be withdrawing you offer unless the Agent stands down form his insistence that you use his mortgage. Be as blunt as that.

If the agent does not back down because this puts evidence into the record that they are in breach of the NAEA standard, then the vendor should force them into line. And if neither happens, then both are too stupid to deal with and you should walk away.
