Virgin Media - large rant ahoy

Options
I moved into my own flat back in June, and it just so happened that at the same time, Virgin were doing a staff offer for DSG workers. XL everything at half price (£33.50 per month). Brilliant, I thought, I'll take that.

All went well, installation was quick and we were up and running nice and quickly. Then came my first bill. It was for £202. I know that they charge for two months service on the first bill, but this was still too much. I called up the billing department who told me there was a credit on my account but it hadn't been applied. She applied it and said my bill was £68. Fantastic. Sorted. After a week, the online bill was still showing £202, so I rang up again. They told me it was too late to change the bill, but it was definitely £68 and subsequent bills would be correct. All good.

Come the second bill, and it's for £79. I was under the impression that a months service plus £16 phone calls would come to £49. On further inspection, I had a balance brought forward of £133 (i.e. the incorrect bill amount minus the payment for the 'correct' amount). The credit for service charges amounted to £71 - giving me a total refund of £4 when they added on the full service charge again. I called them up, and was told it was correct. There was no problem.

I tried the staff offer email address. No response after a week. I then tried the normal billing email address which "aims to respond to your query within 48 hours". STILL no response on that after three weeks! About 10 days ago, I had a reply from someone saying they're looking into it. (EDIT: Just realised they have a Virginmobile email address!) Nothing back so far, so given that the direct debit was due to come out today, I emailed back at the end of last week to ask if they could either sort it or delay taking payment until it was sorted. I got no response whatsoever, and lo and behold, £80 I can ill-afford has come out today.

I am at the end of my tether with being completely ignored by Virgin Media. This is how they treat the people who they expect to SELL their services!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!

If I actually gave bad customer service, I might not be so annoyed.

    Funny...but not very helpful!

And maybe you'd have a point if his was a case of bad customer service without the financial strain it's putting Esqui under

Just sent off another email, and the person is on holiday until tomorrow. Hurrah!

That's a bit harsh in Esqui's case - you're a board regular da couch and I'm sure you know that Esqui does his very best to help folks on here who have problems with Currys! I've read loads of posts where he's helped folk out.

I reckon he probably does an equally good job at his day job.

Good luck with getting it sorted Esqui. :)
