    hi all,

very interesting to read all your input on how schools do things differently.

DD says she had a good day, she likes her new teacher (all the kids cant say her name correctly lol) and was telling me that now she in year 1 she uses the big playground etc. she was quite blunt in telling me `mummy, they dont have many toys in year 1 so we had to sit down and write about our holidays and look at the board, im going to take some of my toys tomorrow`. she was especially upset at there being no home corner or fantasy corner (dressing up, role play etc)

bless her, the struggles of being a child!!

Oh well DD doesn't have that problem - she's going into year 2 but there's still plenty of toys. They have a "byd bach" (little world) corner which she's looking forward to as there's an Ariel doll there apparently. And I'm feeling a bit guilty now because she didn't take her skipping rope in because the forecast was for rain but it's stayed dry. But in any case she trotted into her new classroom without a backward glance - in fact the teacher at the door even said to her (in welsh) "do you know where you've got to go" and there was a quick nod and off she went.

DS has got right on my nerves because he's asked me all morning "can I go to ysgol (school)". I keep telling him he can go on Tuesday but then he doesn't want to go on Tuesday, he wants to go now! You watch, on Tuesday he'll have hysterics because he can turn it on when he wants to, no problem.

    Jxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

DD used to have a teaching assistant in nursery and reception called Mrs McCarthy but she always used to call her "Mrs DeCaffi". DS's teacher is going to be Mrs Tanner which he's struggling with a bit - he calls her "Mrs Hannah".

There's this place in me where your fingerprints still rest, your kisses still linger, and your whispers softly echo. It's the place where a part of you will forever be a part of me.

aww, your poor son, dd`s fright came on all of a sudden too, she just stood there still and so quiet (not like her at all and i have the grey hairs to prove it). it was wierd because as i was watching her her face was becoming redder and redder by they second and i could sense that she was about to explode into a full waterworks session. she was then saying ```i want catkin (the name of her reception class), i like mr xyz``` then he came and she clung to him.

it was like a scene out of a film, the heroic teacher comes to save the poor innocent child. was lovely to see the bond though.

now she has hardly no toys in class, how on earth will she cope hehe!

I popped down to the school at lunch time to spy on mine in the playground - I work right near the school and can park on the road outside and observe but they don't see me :)
I couldn't see DD (I have a feeling skipping takes place towards the back of the playground so reckon that's where she'll be) but DS was chasing around laughing with his usual chums so this morning's upset must be forgotten!

Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit less traumatic!

DDs is called miss siddiqah (she helped my friends son get top marks in his sats last year- he has ADHD and aspergers:T) , which she pronounces `mister deeka`

thats usually the case, once we are out of sight, the kids soon forget us and go along with their daily business. i wish it was that easy for us parents.

i remember when she first went to a private nursery at 12 months (i worked in managment, pretty unflexible hours), i was a wreak, i looked like a mad wonam peering through the windows after i left her, was late for work, phoned the nursey numerous times. in the end i gave up work.:o
