'Unlocking' BT Wireless Router

Prior to our move down under we were BT customers and had their latest wireless router, we have brought this with us and hoped that we would be able to continue to use it here.
We have had the internet connected to the property but we cant get the router to work as its always looking for the BT user name.
Does anyone know how to unlock this save us having to buy a new one?
