Car insurance for 17 yr old

Hi, my son will be 17 in 3 weeks time. He already has his own car and wants to insure it with his own policy starting on his birthday so he can go driving with me (we have been practising for some time on private land). My question is with regards the comparison sites. All the ones I have tried won't quote now, when I enter his date of birth they say he is not 17 yet and too young to drive. This is striclty true but he is looking for a policy to start when he is actually 17. Both Direct Line and Churchill have given him a quote on their sites as they also ask for the date the policy is to start from. Is their a way around this problem on the comparison sites as we would dearly love to get quotes across a range of insurers without having to visit each one independently?
Thanks in advance for any help.

To get a rough idea, change his birthday by 3 weeks (thereby making him 17), obviously you can't buy (it'd be fraud), but it'll give you a quote and in 3 weeks time it'll be a rough price guide, where you can redo it.
 What Happened To Summer!?
