Rented property exit date

Hi, got another small problem come up with my flat that I rent at the moment.

The landlord/agency is not renewing my 6 mth lease so I have to move out by the end of the term which is a Sunday. Trouble is that the agency won't do exit inspections at weekends. My contract with the agency says that I have to be present at the exit inspection but last time I moved out of a property with them they didn't tell me that and so I just handed the keys back. When they inspected the property I lost a lot of my deposit but I had no say in the matter because I'd already handed back the keys. They said had I been there I could have prevented some of the loss of my deposit.

So this time I really want to be at the exit inspection. But if they don't do weekends that means I shall have to move out on the Friday, 2 days before the end of the 6 month term. This doesn't seem right. I don't see why I should have to move out early because they don't do weekends? If I do have to go on the Friday at the very least I would expect to not be charged rent until the Sunday since I will not even have keys for the flat for the last 2 days of the term.

Anyone had a similar problem?!

They have driven me absolutely nuts this agency - am I allowed to name and shame?!

When I had this it was agreed that I vacated and put the keys through the agent's letterbox on Sunday, then I met them at the house Monday morning to do the inspection. You could try asking for that so long as it's clear to all that you did vacate on time and your liability to pay rent ends on the Sunday and that there is a checkout booked for Monday morning that you will attend. (I'd put the keys in an unmarked envelope, with a note giving my name but not the property address for security).

Please do name and shame, it may help other tenants in your area :)

Have you actually been served notice to quit or just told they won't renew your tenancy? If you are going to name and shame it's only fair tp say what the letting agents have (or have not) done so people can judge for themselves who is in the wrong.

Most agents would do the inspection the next working day after the tenancy ends... have you actually asked for the inspection to be done at the weekend?
