Standing charge or not?

Options
Just done the comparison sites and e-on have come up with two tariffs within pence of each other. The save online dual fuel and the save online dual fuel standing charge work out vertually the same.
Could any one please advise which one is the best to go for in the long term, what are the pros and cons of either tariff?

The no [daily] standing charge is (usually invariably) the one to plump for (when comparing the two versions of the same tariff from the one supplier.)

The main 'con' (lol) with the Eon tariffs is they will 'do' you if you ever have the temerity to switch to another supplier, in the sense that they grant absolutely no discount on your final bill. When you consider their discounts can be anything up to 20% this can work out as a significant sum. A heads up.

There is little difference between the standing charge and no standing charge for most people, as you say yourself, its a matter of pence.

The main difference is mainly psychological I think, most people go for the no standing charge because they prefer to purely pay for what they use, not the supply then pay for what they use, in real life it make very little difference whatever you choose in most cases (unless you leave the property empty with EVERYTHING turned off for long periods of time)
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

If your likely to be locked in and are going to make energy efficiency improvements or have a lower head count it would probably be better going for the one without the standing charge.
