Interesting Debt Article...

Hi!!
Just reading through this months "Company" Magazine (courtesy of 3 for £1, so don't worry!!) :0) - and there is an article on page 53 "Debt. You're NOT alone"....
It's a basic article, but shows pictures of 20+ females stating name, age, where they live & how much debt they're in (quite good if you're nosy like me!!) :0)
Wish I could contact them all and recommend this site!!! The only good thing is that Company have teamed up with the CCCS to offer a unique, freephone & confidential service for those in debt....
I wonder how many of these females are trying to become debt free (if any) I would be curious to know. They all look relatively happy in their photos - so perhaps they dont care!! Just kidding!!
Might be worth a browse if you see a newsagents today..
xx

Interesting to see that there seems to be a load of articles in womens magazines on debt at the moment (from what people have posted, not from me reading these magazines you understand
)but nothing at all (as far as I have found) in the lad's magazines.

That's interesting!! Are there any "serious" mens mags out there though? I couldnt imagine reading about debt in FHM or the like, could you? Although it is an issue that affects just as many men, so would be an ideal magazine to start with..
It does annoy me though that some magazines dont take it as serious as they could & make light of the situation...

But spend it on beer, boobs & computer games????!!!!!0 -
this seems to be a very fashionable subject at the moment, lets just hope the people dishing out the advice in these magazines know what they are talking about0

I saw some article about debt in one of the glossies once and almost winged it accross the room when on the opposite page there was, I kid you not, an advert for mastercard.
These mags should practice what they preach. What mascara is "in" this season etc, encouragement to "splurge & treat yourself" etc, and the idea that you are some sort of dog if you dont buy £18 foundation and have a haircut every 3 weeks.
Bitter, moi? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Totally agree with you Lynz!!!
Some magazines are better than others though for doing that. Some are more purse friendly than others, but I just like reading the bits knowing that I get my items for half the price - I dont personally buy into the whole "wear this perfume and you'll have a perfect life" type stuff - I used to (when I was spending the money), but not now!! I feel sorry for those that do to be honest....

The price of living in a capitalist world. Those mags most likely make more money from the ads than the people buying the mag itself. In this case a little bit of common sense would have helped.
Yep if they'd have thought about it they would have put an ad for a consolidation loan there.Barclaycard 3800

And the other thing to say is that the cover price no way covers the cost of production, and the mags are kept afloat ( esp the glossies) by the adverts, which the advert heavier ones, have poorer articles in my experience
For my treat at the end of this month ( if Ive stayed within my overdraft...) Im going to order a private eye subscription, I really do like reading that. ALso quite like Spririt & Destiny ( loads of freebies, Id never buy that) and psychologies isnt bad ( saw an offer on that the other day...) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Well I have researched extensively (Maxim, Loaded, Nuts, Front and FHM) and no debt articles. There were some lads mags on the top shelf but I did not get to those
Magazine like GQ would be my best bet for a proper article, although I doubt they will....0
