Was it damaged before you bought it? If so, why did you buy it?
Was it damaged after you bought it? If so, go to a reputable jeweller and get it repaired.

thanks for your reply
its a crack in the diamond which i did not see in the shop. Are jewellers able to repair cracks in diamonds?0 -
is it a crack or a flaw ?
id be tempted to take it to be tested for actually being a diamond if its cracked...0 -
You're probably going to need to find the US equivalent of this site. Most people here can tell you all sorts of information about UK laws and consumers rights etc etc, but if the ring was damaged before you bought it, or of inferior quality, or even a fake as Samba suggests, you'll need someone who can help you with US rights. Bear in mind that these will probably vary by state.0

Every Diamond has a grading you will need to know the grading of the stone you bought. You could buy a very large flawed diamond for the same money as a small clear and unflawed diamond.
I have picked a link at random but google is your friend

I don't know how much you paid but if I was buying an engagement ring I would buy from someone I trusted or someone I could hold accountable. In your case there is really not much you can do except go back to the shop which probably isn practical.0
