PCN = Wrong details advice please...

Hello all,

First time on here, not seen this problem on any forum, so thought I would ask. Here goes...

This last bank holiday I received a parking ticket along with all the other cars parked by the side of the road. I was under the impression I was ok to park here on a bank holiday, but it seem apparent this is not the case.

However, on my ticket it states my tax disk number and the expiry date which shows "31/03/2000" as its 2009 this is clearly not the case, not to mention the car was made in 2002! is this enough to get off the ticket?

on the local council website it also mentions that:

"The cost of a PCN can vary depending on the seriousness of the contravention. If you pay within 14 days a 50 per cent discount is applied. These charges are set in accordance with the Traffic Management Act 2004:"
  • £70 – higher level charge (for more serious contraventions)
  • £50 – lower level charge (for less serious contraventions).
What are the differences in the categories? Mine is £70, but I can't understand why when I was on a single yellow.

I would be very grateful for any advice any of you have.

Many thanks!

[/QUOTE]No, tax disk number and the expiry date are not a requirement on a PCN
  • It would pay you to get photographs of the lines, area and signs, also both sides of the ticket after removing vrm and personal details(leave dates)host on tinypic and post the url here leaving gap between http: and the rest.

It may be worth also checking the Traffic Regulation Order.
  • Thanks everyone.

I think ill have to just pay it and deal with it. A very expensive half pint of coke!

I'd still be interested to know why it was classed as: "£70 – higher level charge (for more serious contraventions)" and not the lesser "£50 – lower level charge (for less serious contraventions)".

So you have checked the wording on all of the ticket and it's correct? The lines are OK? And the TRO is in order?

    ".
Why? For a little work you could have saved £70.

  • Its worth a try. I once had a met grey car that the parking warden had described as 'brown' and I managed to use this mistake to argue that it must not have been my car (I had received the fine through the post). Also have a look at citizenactiongroup.com/speeding.
