The meter will normally be set to 'claw back' the arrears and an amount they want - say, £20 a week.

It is very doubtful you will be allowed to go back on a credit meter for a considerable period.

It costs a lot of money for them to change meters to pre-pay, and then again back to a credit meter. If you do want to change back to a credit meter, it is probable that you will have to pay the cost of changing.
  • am i going mad?...i thought warrants of entry were only issued for so called 'crown debts?'...after looking at various sites...they all seem to be of the same opinion....here is one...

Rights of entry relates to a bailiff (County Court appointed) or Sheriff’s (privately appointed) rights of entry to your property to collect a debt that is owed by you to a creditor.
Only a bailiff collecting taxes under the authority of the Inland Revenue can obtain a warrant to force entry to your property. All other bailiffs and sheriffs must obtain peaceful right of entry at your permission.
If you expect to receive a visit from a bailiff, it’s important to know about rights of entry and familiarise yourself with your rights.

so who is correct?....i'm currently being threatened by BG with a warrant of entry...but if everyone else is correct...they cant gain entry unless its peacefull?.....and i certainly wont be letting them in!!!!!!

If BG have had a warrant given by the Courts then it is legal. If you do not allow them in they will be backed up by the Police. If it has not yet reached this stage call and arrange a date for a PP meter to in before it gets to Warrant.

Yes, relative had this done, as they ignored 3 warning letters, they got home to find police tape around the door and note placed on it stating what had gone on and a pre-payment meter installed.

Not only that but they will incur court costs, warrant costs, locksmith costs and its a lot of money.......
