If you marry someone with a crap credit record

will it affect your own good standing?
One partner has history of ccjs etc cant get credit and on a basic bank account, th other no such problems. Would marraige mean that both would be counted as no go areas for any credit in the future?

As long as they have absolutely no financial links one will not effect the other.
The minute they apply for anything joint their credit files will be linked and the one with a good credit rating could suffer.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
As peachyprice says, although there was a move to bring credit checks under the same data protection act as everything else, i.e. if just one of you applied for something, they would not be able to check anyone else even if they were associated, but I'm not sure if this is still going to happen.Succesfully fighting mental health problems on a daily basis.

I had a none existent record which in lenders eyes is as bad as a "bad" record
I had a basic bank acc then after a few years we got a mortgage together and added onto DH's current account
It might take a few years for him to rebuild it.
I guess if your married you could just apply for it ? Thats what we did until I had a bit of credit and now I can get stuff myself or we do it together.
They will link you together and this will impact your rating0 -
Hi
As long as you are not financially associated, the CCjer would not affect the other party's credit rating. Whether you are married or co-habiting. The minute you get any sort of joint loan or account, you are financially associated, so keep everything in one name.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
